Waikawa Bay Plan Change - Submission Form Waikawa Bay Plan Change Proposal Over the past several issues of Marina Matters we’ve kept you up to date with progress towards the development of additional berths at Waikawa Marina. While we’ve been working towards expansion of the marina, Marlborough District Council (MDC) has been working through a process to have moorings owners within Waikawa Bay apply for resource consents for their moorings. In the background, the permanent population of Waikawa Bay has grown significantly in recent years (+17% 2000 – 2005) and there has been a significant rise in the value of properties in the area. Each of these factors places different demands on waterspace in Waikawa Bay – either for active use of the space for boat storage or boating, or in a more passive way through providing an attractive outlook and waterside space for residents and visitors.
